Units: Ellis, Estelle, Ferguson, Lewis, Goree, Polunsky

Stanton Lawrence has joined BTL as Regional Coordinator for Huntsville/East Texas.
Born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, Stanton grew up as the second of 12 siblings.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Prairie View A&M University and Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees from The University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em!!). During his professional career, Stanton served over two decades in the public school system as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools in Texas and Missouri.
When he was eleven, Stanton's 9-year-old cousin was brutally murdered in their hometown. Lacking the emotional tools to process what happened, Stanton reacted with disbelief and temporary depression. Although the perpetrator was caught and convicted, it did very little to diminish his anguish. Only maturity in his faith and a deeper relationship with his Lord and Savior enabled him to move beyond the trauma of that tragic loss.
Stanton previously served with Prison Fellowship in the Connally Unit in Kenedy, TX, is an ordained deacon, a longtime Sunday School teacher, and served in the Brotherhood Ministry. He and his wife, Leola (also a retired school administrator), have served as co-directors of Vacation Bible School. They reside in Cleveland, Texas, and are the proud parents of a blended family of six grown sons and daughters and five grandchildren.
