A native Texan from Crosby, James has been married to wife Cindy for 32 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.

Like many of BTL's staff, James has a family member who was a victim of crime; his father was murdered in 1995 during a petty robbery. Though years of anger and bitterness followed, James ultimately recovered with the help and support of his Catholic faith.

After retiring from a career with ConocoPhillips in 2015, James turned his attention to prison ministry as a result of his spiritual journey. Through his volunteer work with St. Kolbe Prison Ministries, he was introduced to Bridges To Life last year and was quickly recognized for his dedication and leadership in the BTL project coordinator role. James has now joined the BTL staff as Regional Coordinator for our expanding Southeast Texas region, including the LeBlanc Unit in Beaumont, Lewis Unit in Woodville, and Polunsky Unit in Livingston.
