Kimberly Gibbs was born and raised by two loving parents in New Jersey. Kimberly moved to Texas as a young adult. She raised she two beautiful daughters while working as a retail store manager. In her 30’s Kimberly recommitted her life to the Lord and prayed for His direction about how best to serve Him. He called her to the field of restorative justice, and she fervently followed. As a result of the call, Kimberly enrolled in college in 2000 and received her bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University in 2004. While at Wayland she met and married the love of her life, Robert, in 2003. She gained a wonderful stepson in the process. Kimberly went on to earn her master’s degree in Counseling in 2007 from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Kimberly met John Sage and some of the Bridges staff at a restorative justice conference in 2003. From that moment she was hooked and became an active volunteer for Bridges To Life projects from 2003-2008. In the spring of 2008 Kimberly was invited to join the staff of Bridges To Life as a regional coordinator for the San Antonio area. She currently coordinates projects at the Ney Unit in Hondo and the Bexar County Jail in San Antonio. Besides time with her family and pets Kimberly counts her work in Bridges to Life as some of the most rewarding and meaningful experiences of her life.
Restoring Peace – Using Lessons From Prison to Mend Broken Relationships details the principles used in the Bridges To Life program, combined with actual stories from victim and inmate participants. The book is intended for repairing or improving relationships with others.
“The best part about this program is the small group setting which allows both victim and inmate to be open and honest with one another and the trust, confidence that is built through these groups.”
